The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center announces First Live Video Streaming in Mobile Apps powered by InstantEncore

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMSLC) and InstantEncore.com are pleased to announce the first LIVE concert video stream in mobile apps January 13, 2011 at 9:30PM EST. The CMS concert at Lincoln Center’s Rose Studio will be available for free to a virtual global audience through the CMSLC Android and iPhone (iOS) Application and on any Smartphone web browser.

The January 13^th “Late Night Rose” concert features CMS Artistic Director and cellist David Finckel, along with oboist Stephen Taylor, violinists Kristin Lee and Yura Lee, violist Beth Guterman, and cellist Nicholas Canellakis. The program includes Britten’s Phantasy Quartet for Oboe and Strings and Schubert’s Quintet for Strings in C major, D. 956. This will be the first concert event where global audiences can access a concert through multiple Smartphone platforms. Fans who download the CMS App through the Android Marketplace or Apple App Store can receive a push-notification as the concert is about to start, directing them with one-touch to view the live video stream.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) is one of twelve constituents of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the largest performing arts complex in the world. In 2004, CMS appointed cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han artistic directors. They succeed founding director Charles Wadsworth (1969-89), Fred Sherry (1989-93), and David Shifrin (1993-2004).

InstantEncore's TOP 200 WORKS of 2010

It's time for a look at the TOP 200 Classical Music WORKS, as indexed by InstantEncore via the 42,000 classical music concert listings we tracked in 2010 - Worldwide. These concert listings include performances by thousands of classical music artists, ensembles, opera and ballet companies, chamber music and recital series presenters. (To be fair, this year's TOP 200 is actually 202, to account for a few ties toward the middle and bottom of the pack.)

A few qualifications to keep in mind as you browse the TOP 200:

- Every performance counts, partial or complete.

- Nutcracker and Messiah (!) Well of course, nearly every classical music ensemble or series presenter is going to be sure they have an offering of one or the other every December - if not both!

- Again, every partial or complete performance counts. A good example is Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila". It shows up this year at 115 in our TOP 200. The overture to this opera is widely performed. As a complete opera, it's not performed all that often outside Russia. But every performance of the overture, or an aria, or the ballet music, or a combination of those, is going to count in our statistics. Similarly, Smetana's "Ma Vlast" is not performed all that often in its entirety, but a performance of any portion of it ("The Moldau") counts.

- Regarding Dance, we track the performances of the world's great ballet and modern dance companies. The modern dance work "Serenade" (Balanchine) made the list - the music is by Tchaikovsky.

- We track performances of a defined concert suite separately from the complete opera or ballet score, especially if the suite carries a different Opus number. Sometimes a suite is more frequently performed than the complete work itself.

- Since some of our beloved concert & radio 'favs' didn't make the Top 200 this year, we extended the list out to 225 for a peak at which works fell into the "near miss" category. To those which didn't make the TOP 200 cut this time, better luck next year! (2011)

InstantEncore Mobile App for London Philharmonic Named One of the World’s Best Arts Apps

The London Philharmonic Orchestra mobile application, created and powered by InstantEncore.com, was ranked fourth by the London Times this week as one of the world’s top arts apps. The LPO app is the only classical music app to make the list. There are currently over 350,000 apps in the iTunes and Android stores.

World’s First Live Video Streaming of a Classical Music Competition via Mobile App

Sunday marked the start of the 8^th Quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis (IVCI), one of the most premiere competitions of its kind in the world. It also marked the first time in history that a competition could be viewed on mobile devices anywhere in the world. It's time for a look at the TOP 200 Classical Music WORKS, as indexed by InstantEncore via the 35,000 classical music concert listings we tracked in 2009 - Worldwide. These concert listings include performances by thousands of classical music artists, ensembles, opera and ballet companies, chamber music and recital series presenters. (To be fair, this year's TOP 200 is actually 204, to account for a few ties toward the middle and bottom of the pack.)

A few qualifications to keep in mind as you browse the TOP 200:

- We track performances of a defined concert suite separately from the complete opera or ballet score, especially if the suite carries a different Opus number. Sometimes a suite is more frequently performed than the complete work itself.

If you go to our home page you might notice that it looks a little bit different. For users with an InstantEncore account you'll see our newest feature - Fan Feed. Your InstantEncore Fan Feed is like your Facebook or Twitter feed with a classical music twist. It has all the most recent music, videos, buzz and upcoming concerts for the artists and music in your Fan List.

All you need to do to set up your Fan Feed is to find your favorite artists and works on InstantEncore and click “Become a Fan.” You can filter the content in your Fan Feed so that you only see the latest music or videos. You can also show concerts by location, which is the best way to find out when your favorite artists are performing in your home town.
